SVBPIEPA logoThe Tribal Environmental and Natural Resource Protection Department (TENRD) is responsible for creating and implementing the Tribal Environmental Plan and is active in many environmental protection efforts that impact air, land, and waters. The TENRD is well known for its collaboration and partnership on projects and programs with local, county, state, federal, and Tribal governments and organizations to support and enhance the lives of the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians (SVBPI).

The Tribe is invested in environmental issues throughout Lake County, as there are no boundaries when it comes to environmental problems. Aside from dealing with environmental priorities affecting the Tribal fee land, a lot of environmental work has been focused on the Clear Lake Watershed Basin.

In 1997, SVBPI began receiving funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) General Assistance Program (GAP) to build the capacity of their Tribal Environmental Department. The TENRD has expanded to at times include funding from other state and federal agencies to develop energy, environmental outreach, fire prevention, recycling, climate change, and water quality monitoring programs.
